What should have been the second round of the 2019 Car Care Clinic SuperHatch championship came to a premature end when the newly-repaired surface of the Midvaal Raceway started breaking up during Friday morning’s practice sessions.
Shortly before lunch on Friday, the circuit owner and the officials of the meeting took the decision to cancel the rest of the day’s practice sessions to allow repairs to the damaged areas of the circuit to be patched. Unfortunately the weather didn’t play ball and the rain came down, preventing any attempt at repairs.
By late afternoon, it was clear that the circuit would not be in any condition to host championship events on Saturday and the decision was made to cancel the event.
This leaves the Car Care Clinic SuperHatch drivers with almost two months to prepare themselves for their next event, the Phakisa 200, which takes place on Saturday, 8 June at the Free State circuit.
