Race 1

[singlepic id=6007 w=320 h=240 float=center] With Tugwell on pole due to the grid reversal of the last finishing order from the August event and Mark alongside him the start was sure to be interesting, it’s not often the fastest time is on the front row, everyone had a good clean start and class A got away and literally everyone was in turn 1 and 2 together, close but fast.
Hilton wasted little time in getting to the front, but it wasn’t made easy for him as Brett (Jonnesway/The Tool traders Honda Civic) and Hilton were so quick in the morning, and Chris (Opel SuperBoss), the Lubbe twins both in Peugeots and Mel in the 1 Series Renexcon BMW.
The pace out front was fast and the racing clean, but Hilton got the flag from Brett and Mark
Class B had Ish and Jaco Kriel (CIR Auto customs/Impact Gearboxes) in 2nd, with a cracker of a start was Ryan Quan-Chai (Leesons Honda Civic) who was right up in the front by turn 3 along with Calitz, Kotwal (Opel SuperBoss) Martin in baby blue (RDG Opel Kadett) and James Fuller (New Age tyre specialists) who has stepped up from class C. throughout the field the racing was close.
[singlepic id=6005 w=320 h=240 float=center] Sadly on lap 2, youngster Chad Ten Doeschate (TAR VW Golf MK1) had rolled into Sunset corner and was out, but thankfully ok. And the racing went uninterrupted. In the class B field there was racing with Konig (Northern bolt & tool VW MK1 Golf), Peter Lotter (VW MK1 Golf) and the rest. But top honours went to Quan-Chai from Calitz and Kotwal.
Class C’s front row was made up of Pieter Pienaar (VW MK2 Golf) and the Citroen C2 of Jacques van der Zee, the hard charging pack came through and made their intentions well known early on, lady racer Louise had an incident in to the last corner and had to retire with radiator damage, while Morne who got the flag was underweight, the rest had a tussle of note, Marius Roberts was given the win from Human and van der Zee in third place, with the entire class C field impressing, Nick Cleary (Tops Opel Corsa), Tony in the Ford Fiesta, Heyes in his Ford Laser, new comer to the series Danille Basson in his VW MK1 Golf, Alta van Wyk (VW MK1 Golf), Marius Lotz in his re-built (VW MK1 Golf).

Race 2

Class A – Davison in the SuperBoss on pole (an missing due to a broken brake disc) which was picked up in the pre-race paddock and Geoff in the 2nd spot, a clean start again and Hilton wasted little time in getting to the front where he needed to be and Mark staying hot on his heels with Garland close behind. [singlepic id=6173 w=320 h=240 float=center]
Class B – Saw Fuller on pole with Martin alongside, and Martin ensuring this time he got away, but Calitz ensured he was never too far away from him and they had a superb battle, while Kotters took his 2nd third spot for the day.
Class C – The front row was all about Pienaar and Cleary, but Roberts and Human made sure they got the front of the class C pack in double quick time and van der Zee made sure they never got too far away. [singlepic id=6137 w=320 h=240 float=center]
Roberts had got to the front with Human following him and the lady racer after being tangled up in some of the carnage finished up in 3rd spot.

Results:

  • Class A: Hilton van Nieuwenhuizen, Brett Garland, Mark du Toit
  • Class B: Andre Calitz, Nic Martin, Ian Kotwal
